Model:My 7-year-old daughter
Jump when you find a splendid spot of light!
I have a daughter turning seven. This series was made while taking a walk with her around the neighborhood. As my work concentrates on the concept of One Second (to segment the time axis),using a technique of multiple exposures within one second and overlaying them into a single image.
Whether it be a meadow or street corner, my daughter jumps whenever she discovers some light that she likes. And I photograph her.
As I gaze at her running, she appears so beautifulbathed in the radiant light. Certainly a very touching moment, reminding me that she has a much longer future than I, with many dreams to fulfill. And I pray that she will overcome any events that may occur against her will with determination.
At the same time, I felt envious that she has much more time in her lifetime than mine. And realized that what I could do was to capture these precious and beautiful moments.
One, Two, Jump! This is a memoir that my daughter and I compose together.

This is my homage to Einstein, my superstar since childhood, and his Special Theory
of Relativity. Sadly enough, it’s inconceivable to photograph something while traveling at the speed of light during my lifetime. So I thought to photograph from the Shinkansen at a velocity of 300 kph as a small consolation, with the hope that some people might be able to share this humble experiment. And at the same time, this is my challenge to the questionable principle of “time” that I believe is a fabrication made only for the sake of human convenience.
Shibuya Station of October, 2012. I cannot look anymore now.
Tokyu Toyoko department store (building of Shibuya Station) of Shibuya that I loved.I want you to look with a full screen mode by all means.
The fact that I cannot watch anymore is nightmare. However, Shibuya is going to be reborn again.
